Book Club is Back and...already full!
My team and I have worked very hard to bring back the Liberation Library Book Club!
This free initiative is a serious labour of love. In order to provide free, accessible and affirming learning spaces. Rania donates all facilitation and planning time, covers all related administrative and staffing expenses and pays $1000 out of pocket, per book club meeting. These expenses cover:
- Book purchases for those who can't access the titles we're reading through libraries and local loans
- Note taker
- Captioning
- ASL interpretation
- Guest speakers
We are also working to add more sessions, your support would be incredibly appreciated!
Sponsor captioning for a book club meeting!
Captioning is the most requested accessibility support for book club. $350 covers captioning for one book club meeting!
Sponsor a Book Club Meeting!
A Book Club meeting costs roughly $1000. How? Because we don't compromise on access and we ensure that meetings have:
Captions
Notetaker
ASL
as well as buying/coordinating access for those who don't have the book.
(PS: Rania volunteers all facilitation/planning time for book club, and covers all internal staffing related expenses)
Make a general donation to the Liberation Library!
Make a donation in any amount to the Liberation Library, donations go towards:
- ASL Interpretation
- Book purchases for participants
- Note taking fees
- Captioning
Donations also enable us to add more meeting sessions and expand access!
Sponsor a book club meeting note taker!
Note taking fees for each sessions are $100 CAD, currently we pay these expenses out of pocket, and appreciate any support that we can get in meeting the dozens of note taking requests we receive for each session.
Note taking supports individuals with a range of learning styles, disabilities, traumas and language skills.
Your donation supports accessibility, documentation and knowledge transmission!
Donate a Book to the Liberation Library!
This is the average cost of a title in the Liberation Library Book Club.
The book club is free, we strive to meet the needs of folks who want to join the book club but don't have access to the books through libraries or local lending programs.
We buy the books from local, independently owned bookstores, we prefer to buy used, and we discourage circulating unauthorized PDFs as all the titles in the series are written by Black & Indigenous folks.
