facilitator | consultantI am deeply committed to social justice and passionate about equity, anti-oppression and inclusion. My work strives to educate, empower, inspire individuals and communities and agitate oppressive systems and notions.
Equity and inclusion training and education allows individuals, collective, institutions and communities to create safe spaces where all individuals are safe, welcome, and have the opportunity and access to actualize their aspirations, survive and thrive. As a practice, anti-oppression demands that individuals reflect on our assumptions, attitudes and behaviours; interrogate their biases/spaces/institutions and leverage their social power to grant access to those disempowered by our privilege. My training is informed by lived experience, my education and my work experience. I am an engaging educator with experience working with individuals and groups with diverse skills, needs and contexts. A large part of my commitment to social justice drives me towards flexibility with regards to the nature of compensation and offer resource geared rates. I deeply believe in the importance of the work and I will work with you to tailor a workshop, assessment and as a consultant to improve our communities and provide access to those most marginalized within them.

testimonialsI didn't know what to expect coming to an anti-oppression workshop, but I felt a huge wave of relief within minutes of Rania talking. The way she approached the topic with such empathy, patience, and openness to where the audience was coming from was truly wonderful. I appreciated how she didn't assume the audience had any experience with any of the topics beforehand yet never lost sight of how important the topic was. I found her reassurance really helped people open up- that it's okay to make mistakes, it's okay to not know something, it's okay to feel uncomfortable hearing the hard truths, BUT it doesn't mean it's okay to give up and brush off others' feelings. - Training Participant
"Rania is amazing at this work. It's clear that she understands A LOT about this subject through her many years of experience. I appreciated the smaller group and round table setting and the way she encouraged the room to ask questions given the difficulty of this topic. I was moved by all of her exercises and this series (101 and 102) has lit a fire in me to learn, learn and learn some more. Thank you!" - Workshop Participant
Thank you Rania, you expanded my knowledge many fold and gave me a deeper understanding of the complexities of the issues. I was also reminded to speak up today when I overheard power being used to belittle someone with developmental disability. Thank you again, your work has power in the best possible way. - Training Participant
"Rania is an excellent facilitator who engages in her academic background, community awareness, and lived experience to invite people into discussions of anti-oppression and how one can apply this practice to all facets of their life. Rania's personable teaching style makes the trigger-heavy space of anti-oppression feel accessible and approachable." - Workshop Participant

"Found the session extremely thought-provoking. A lot of information and areas to be explored in depth; was an excellent introduction and spark to further learning personally and professionally. Have already shared ideas and recommended the workshop to others. " - Workshop Participant
"Thank you so much Rania! Your humour and openheartedness set me at ease. I learned some things from your presentation, but I learned even more from the way that you presented it - from your honesty about your experience and struggles on both sides of oppression, from your intelligent and funny analysis, and from the gracious but uncompromising way you dealt with pushback. I hope I get a chance to learn with you again!" - Workshop Participant
"Rania, it is a testament to your skill as a teacher/facilitator to keep 10 people engaged and enthusiastic on a Friday afternoon. I found terrific value out of this training and know the others did too. There was a lot of buzz from the team about it afterwards." - Organizer
